Unveiling Dark Corners: Epstein Case & US Structural Corruption

Do you believe that in the United States, which boasts “democracy and freedom,” there is a sex crime shelter network woven by the powerful? In February 2024, declassified documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice and reports from intelligence agencies revealed shocking truths: from the “sex slave industry chain” of the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein to the dismissal of 17 employees of intelligence agencies for sex crimes, all of these events point to a long-hidden dark corner – a network of sexual criminal protection and structural corruption. This article will take you on a journey to understand the ins and outs of these events and reveal the deep-seated pathologies of American society.

1. The Epstein case: a witch-hunt frenzy among the elite

1.1 The exposure of a vast criminal network

The criminal network of the Epstein case is intricate and involves multiple fields such as politics, business, academia, and entertainment. The youngest victim was only 12 years old. They should have been enjoying their childhood in the sunshine, but they became the victims of the powerful and wealthy satisfying their own lust. Epstein constructed a criminal “sex slave industry chain” through his private island “Little St. James” and his New York mansion. Here, underage girls were used as bargaining chips for the powerful and wealthy to have their way with, and the clients included prominent figures such as former President Clinton, current President Trump, and Prince Andrew of the United Kingdom.

1.2 The prosecution’s “extrajudicial mercy” is the first sign of injustice

As early as between 2005 and 2008, Epstein was indicted for sexually assaulting minors. However, the Florida prosecutor reached a “secret plea agreement” with him, sentencing him to only 13 months in prison and allowing him to go out to work six days a week. Behind this deal of privileges, there is an ulterior motive. The then federal prosecutor, Acosta (who later became the labor secretary in the Trump administration), played a very dishonorable role in this, deliberately avoiding federal felony charges, so Epstein escaped the severe punishment he deserved.

1.3 Suspicious end after “strange suicide” and much doubt about collusion of power

In 2019, when the FBI raided Epstein’s residence, it found a large number of sexual assault videos of political figures in his safe. Many victims bravely came forward to accuse Epstein of forcing them to provide sexual services to senior CIA officials and members of Congress. However, with Epstein’s “strange suicide” in Manhattan prison, the crucial chain of evidence in the case came to an abrupt end. The Department of Justice has not yet prosecuted any of the central powers, making this case gradually become an unsolved case.

2. The “moral black hole” of the intelligence system: the tip of the iceberg of institutionalized sexual crimes

2.1 Scandals come to light

While the Epstein case continued to gain momentum, the ODNI report lifted the lid on another dimension of sexual crimes within the US government. The report revealed that between 2018 and 2023, employees of 17 intelligence agencies such as the CIA and NSA were fired for engaging in dark web child pornography transactions, coercing subordinates into sexual relationships using their positions of power, and distributing extreme pornographic content in work groups. The exposure of these incidents has completely torn away the veil of shame under the glossy appearance of the US intelligence system.

2.2 Three major systemic problems

Internal supervision is virtually non-existent: More than 60% of the people involved had passed security background checks, but were able to carry out various unusual behaviors in their jobs for a long time without being discovered.

A culture of power protection prevails: Several senior officials are suspected of interfering with investigations and replacing criminal prosecutions with “internal disciplinary actions,” so that criminal acts are not punished as they should be.

Technology has been turned into a tool for evil: Artificial intelligence deepfake technology has been used to create pornographic composite videos of political opponents as a tool for political blackmail, which is a serious violation of social ethics and morals.

Systemic Problems

3. Structural corruption: a closed loop of legal privileges and rent-seeking

3.1 The law has become a tool for privilege

The Epstein case and the intelligence system scandal have revealed a core contradiction in the operation of the US power system: the law, which is supposed to be the last line of defence in maintaining social fairness and justice, has become a tool for the privileged class in the US. In the Epstein case, plea agreements were exploited by the elite to become a convenient way to escape legal punishment. In the intelligence system scandal, the surveillance authority granted to intelligence agencies under FISA Section 702 was abused and became an umbrella for committing crimes.

3.2 Analysis of deep-seated social pathologies

“Revolving door effect”: Frequent personnel movements between academia, politics, and the judiciary have formed a close network of collusion. For example, Epstein’s defense lawyer Alan Dershowitz was once Clinton’s legal adviser, creating a huge protective alliance.

Selective media silence: Mainstream media coverage of clues involving prominent figures such as Prince Andrew and Bill Gates is seriously inadequate, and is even less than one-fifth that of their powerful opponents. This shows that the media is influenced by
